Tučepi is located on the Adriatic coast of Dalmatia known as Makarska riviera, just about 5 km southeast of Makarska. Gornje Tučepi is a village above Tučepi and a place where all the people of Tučepi used to grow food and live before the tourism started in the Makarska riviera in the 60’s. With its unique position, Tučepi offers numerous vacation possibilities and has become a favourite tourist destination throughout Croatia and Europe. Until the earthquake of 1962, the majority of Tučepi inhabitants were living in scattered small villages like, Podpec, Čovići, Srida Sela, Šimići and Podstup at the lower foot of the mountain Biokovo.

We where a group of 10 girls in our early twenties who just had a lovely week in Villa Silva. The house is big and spacious and was clean and... read more tidy when we arrived. It is a bit secluded so it is smart to rent cars, but we did not bother the drive because it was really nice to get away from the more tourist areas of Tucepi, also the drive is not that far from either Tucepi or Makarska and you can catch a taxi for only 120kn one way.
The host was really nice and always available if we had any questions or need any help. He had even left a tapas plate and some beverages in the fridge for our arrival.
We could not ask for more of our stay!

My family of 7 spent a week at Josko's in mid August and the stay was a highlight of our trip to Croatia. (5 adults, 1 college, 1 high... read more school) Josko was the absolute best host you could want. On our arrival into Tucepi, he met us at the nearby grocery so we could follow him to the home. That was necessary as the first time finding it would have been difficult otherwise. He had prepared a bread, meat and cheese plate for us, and had homegrown vegetables for us too. The house was spotless, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone and anything you need was provided! The property is very unique and even had an outdoor "house" with a stone BBQ that we used for 2 nights meals, and Josko explained that at one time, the BBQ "house" was the village bakery - exposed brick is remaining. The outdoor space for dining was beautiful with 2 large tables and mature trees and grapevines. We spent every night we were there outside eating meals, playing cards, drinking Josko's homemade wine and enjoying the serenity of the countryside. We also used the pool almost every day and Josko kept it clean throughout our stay. Sometimes unplanned experiences occur that make a vacation even more special than planned activities. The "neighbors" had a traditional Croatian gathering "Klapa", a form of cappella singing with a group of friends (~40) including musical instruments and they welcomed us to their gathering, sharing food, wine and friendship - even singing Happy Birthday to me! Josko made EXCELLENT recommendations for dinners and made our reservations for us (Ranc was amazing and we actually went twice! In an outdoor setting under olive groves). There's a walking path down to the coast where shops, restaurants, beaches, water sports are easily accessible. It's about a 20 minute walk down - much more effort to walk up so some of us called a cab to come back. I highly recommend Josko's place and happy to be contacted if anyone wants more details. Thank you Josko!!

This home is a gem on the Dalmatian coast! It’s tucked in a small town from where you can enjoy a stunning view of the Adriatic and turn around and... read more feel dwarfed by the beautiful mountains of Croatia.
Sparkling clean and riddled with amazingly tasteful decorations, you feel you’re in a home and most importantly, your home.
From the second we were met by our gracious host Josko we felt welcomed and taken care of. Always available for any sort of question ranging from a bar recommendation to travel logistics to Dubrovnik or Krka.
Having a car is recommended and Josko even helped us secure a very well priced car. With it, the beach and several nice bars and restaurants were only a 10min drive. Grocery stores even closer.
This house and its host made us want to come back to this beautiful country one day...soon. :)
Hvala Josko!
